Dún na Séad

Baltimore to Cape Clear Island & Fastnet Rock Tours

Baltimore, also known in Irish as Dún na Séad, is a busy maritime port lying at the cross-section of the Wild Atlantic Way, Carbery’s Hundred Isles, and the beautiful coast of West Cork.

The town is less than two hours from Cork City, around 45 minutes from Clonakilty and 15 minutes from nearby Skibbereen. One of the last stops on the Wild Atlantic Way, Baltimore has much to offer visitors with historic sites, such as the castle and fishermen’s cottages, to the bars and restaurants gathered in the centre square, with stunning views over the sea and local islands.

Cape Clear Ferries operates from Baltimore to Cape Clear every day of the year except Christmas day, with several departures daily. See timetable for the most up-to-date sailings on our passenger ferry Dún an Óir II.

Dún an Óir II has capacity for 94 passengers and features a heated indoor saloon as well as a large viewing deck to photograph the breath-taking scenery or watch for the large numbers of whales and dolphins that transit through the waters around Cape Clear. Toilets are available in the harbour before you embark as well as on the ferry itself.

Our range of tours that take in both the iconic Fastnet Rock Lighthouse and Cape Clear Island also depart from Baltimore pier from mid-April to the end of October, weather permitting.

Evening tours from Baltimore Harbour to Fastnet Rock Lighthouse via Cape Clear begin in June.
