€1 Million Funding
Over €1 million in capital investment funding is being provided by Fáilte Ireland and Údarás
na Gaeltachta to significantly develop and upgrade the visitor centre on Cape Clear Island. A
new innovative visitor centre will be created offering augmented reality and 3D experiences
centred around Fastnet Lighthouse. Additionally, the project involves relocating and
interpreting the existing collection of heritage artifacts from Cape Clear Museum to tell the
story of the island’s ancient past, as well as its maritime heritage. It is especially exciting that
the 5,000 year old Cape Clear Stone will be restored to the Island through this development.
This project is being developed by Údarás na Gaeltachta and Fáilte Éireann in partnership
with Comharchumann Chléire Teo to improve the offering for visitors to the island and
provide economic and cultural benefits to the local community.

This event is being organised by Údarás na Gaeltachta and Comharchumann Chléire Teo
and will give the local community and interested parties an opportunity to view the plans for
the proposed new centre, meet the design team, and share ideas to help shape this
important development for the community.
