Cape Clear Island, in West Cork is a renowned bird watching destination and we are currently in our birding high season. And what a season it is so far! Another first for Cape today with the arrival of a Scarlet Tanager. The scarlet tanager (Piranga olivacea) is a medium-sized American songbird. This particular one is a female. Scarlet tanagers migrate to northwestern South America, passing through Central America around April, and again around October. This is the first time the scarlet tanager has ever seen on Cape. Our latest visitors were obviously blown off course by the recent Storm Callum. Buíochas arís le Mary Cadogan as ucht na griangrafanna.
Along with the scheduled ferry service, we also have the 12 passenger Deep Star available for private hire. Contact 0873899711 to book.
